schedule

if anyone is curious about where i'll be/what i'll be doing and when, here is my calender for the next nine months.

September 

  3 (Th)               Departure from Boston (Air France 321/1700 at 10:50 p.m.)  

  4 (Fri)   Arrival in Zaragoza (Delicias Bus Station) 9:30 p.m. 

  5 – 6 (Sat – Sun) Closed weekend with host families 

  7 – 8 (Mon – Tue)  Orientation activities; classes start Wednesday, Sept. 9 

  23 (Wed)  Host family meeting and reception at Colegio Montessori 

  18 – 19 (Fri – Sat) School retreat to Albarracín, departing at 8:30  

  25 (Fri)   Closed dinner/theater partySYA and Joven Erasmus students 

  30 (Wed)  All-day excursion to Leyre and Olite 

 

October

  3 (Sat)   SAT I and SAT II exams 

   9 – 13 (Fri – Mon) Local holiday (Nuestra Señora del Pilar

  14 (Wed)  PSAT for all juniors (seniors doing college apps) 

  21 (Tue)  Check-in night for host families and advisers 

  24 (Sat)   ACT exam 

   29 (Wed)  All-day excursion to San Juan de la Peña 

   31 (Fri)   Last day of first quarter 

 

November

  2 (Mon)  Local holiday; no classes 

  7 (Sat)   SAT I and SAT II exams (listening section for Spanish) 

  9 – 13 (Mon – Fri) Micro-trips: a third of the school to one of three destinations 

  10 (Mon)  First-quarter grades and comments mailed 

  25 (Wed)  All-day excursion to Tarazon and Monasterio de Veruela 

   26 (Th)   Thanksgiving dinner at Antigua at 8:30 

        

December

 7 – 8 (Mon – Tue) No classes. Día de la Constitución/Inmaculada 

14 (Mon)  Theater class performance and host family holiday reception 

16 – 18 (Wed – Fri) Semester exams on special exam schedule 

22 (Tue)                      Classes and second quarter end at 2 o’clock; winter break begins 

23 (Wed)  Open house (optional) for American families from 10 – noon 

   

January

 7 (Th)   Start of the third quarter, 9 a.m. 

  8 (Fri)   First-semester grades and comments mailed 

  23 (Sat)   SAT I and SAT II exams 

  29 (Fri)   Local holiday, San Valero, patron saint of Zaragoza 

             

February

 7 (Sun)   Required group trip to Andalucía 

13 (Sat)   Return from Andalucía to Zaragoza 

   

March

 4 (Th)   End of third quarter; fourth quarter begins Monday, 3/9 

5 (Fri)   No classes. Cinco Marzada 

  15 (Mon)  Third-quarter grades and comments mailed 

26 (Fri)   Spring break starts at 2 o’clock 

 

 

April  

  6 (Tue)   Classes resume at 9 a.m. 

  14 – 18 (Wed – Sun) Schoolwide exchanges, “Five Days in_______” 

  23 (Fri)   Local holiday, San Jorge, patron saint of Aragón; no classes. 

   

May

  1 (Sat)   SAT I and SAT II exams 

  4 – 14 (Tue – Fri) Classes—APs (4 SpLan; 5 Calc; 6 EnLit; 12 EnLan; 14 SpLit. DELE)   

  7 – 9 (Fri – Sun) Closed weekend with host families 

  14 – 16 (Fri – Sun) Closed weekend with host families 

  20 (Th)   Required group trip to the coast, depart 8:30 

  22 (Sat)   Return to Zaragoza at 8 p.m. 

  25 – 26 (Tue – Wed) Last days of classes and closure activities 

 27 (Thur)                   Official end of school year and return flight (Air France 

1001/332 at 10:15, connecting in Paris to Boston, arriving 3:05 

p.m.) 

 


June 

             7 (Mon)                       Second-semester grades and comments mailed

    With AFS it is pretty much
    -arrival
    -some orientations thrown in there
    -maybe a trip to beijing
    -departure
